Another year has passed and we look back at our shortfalls and achievements. We pull our resources together towards the attainment of our set goals .  These, among others are the thoughts that may come to mind on birthdays, but the principal focus is to use the birthday as a medium to celebrate life and be joyful for the opportunity to be with friends, family and loved ones. Coronavirus: Germany bans large gatherings till end of the year and tightens controls

German Chancellor Angela Merkel addresses the media in Berlin on August 27, 2020. German football stadiums will most likely remain empty for the initial part of the season as Chancellor Angela Merkel warmly extended a ban on large gatherings until December 31. It comes after Merkel met with her 16 state governors on Thursday to discuss how to stem coronavirus infections in the country after daily infection rates spiked to the highest levels since the end of April. Sport was not the main focus of the talks, but it is covered by the decision to extend the ban on events where hygiene and tracing can’t be ensured. That ban was initially set to run until October 31 but was extended for another two months. The state governors’ chiefs of staff will, however, form a working group to consider the possibility of spectators at events and report their findings by the end of October. GES Will Not Rush To Re-Open Pre-Tertiary School's

The Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Professor Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa, has said that the Ghana Education Service will not rush into re-opening pre-tertiary schools in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. According to him, the GES would act on sound advice by the committee inaugurated to come up with a roadmap towards the resumption of schools. “The schools will reopen when the committee has made proposals, and the proposals have been accepted. So there is no date for us now, but we know that obviously schools will reopen some time,” Prof. Opoku-Amankwa added. He was addressing a day’s training workshop on the Secondary School Improvement Project (SEIP), for selected journalists from across the country, here, over the weekend. UCC Considers Work-Study Scheme For Students

University of Cape Coast (UCC) is considering a policy that will allow the university to employ needy, promising students of the institution on a part-time basis to help them earn some money to ease their financial burdens. With this work-study programme, students will be given the opportunity to work at the library, halls of residence and the Students Financial Support Office (SFSO).  In furtherance of this objective, the university last Tuesday inaugurated the SFSO and a management committee to set the process rolling. An 11-member committee will manage the office, and funding will be from the university, student bodies on campus and other interested organisations. The occasion was also used to launch students’ scholarships for the 2020/2021 academic year. WE APOLOGIZES FOR CANCELLING TEACHER'S TRAINEE ALLOWANCE – NDC

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has apologised for scrapping the teacher and trainee allowances, under the erstwhile John Mahama government. The National Youth Organiser for the party, George Opare Addo admitted that the decision by then NDC government was ‘unpopular’.  Explaining the reason behind the ‘unpopular’ decision taken by the Mahama-led administration, Opare Addo said, the teacher- trainee allowances were cancelled after training colleges were upgraded to tertiary institutions. He however said the explanation is not ‘to justify the cancellation of the allowances.’  According to the Communications Director of the party, Lawyer Kakra Essamuah, the national democratic congress have outlined several policies in their upcoming manifesto which will impact the lives of Ghanaians positively. GOODWILL MESSAGE FROM THE GENERAL COURSE REP.

I bring you seasonal greetings from the office of the general course Rep. I am very optimistic that we are all doing well. As we all know the rules and regulations governing every institution, you cannot do away with exams so far as your education is concerned. In view of this, the time is ripe for us in level hundred to take our Interim Assessment(IA 1) on Monday, August 17 ,2020. As we prepare for the IA1, I would take this opportunity to first of all, thank you all for availing yourself for the e- learning and its associated activities. Inspite of the numerous challenges faced by many of us, we were able to nip it in the bud for the sucess of this "new normal" intervention . Again , the school management together with the SRC and vodafone Ghana have made provisions for us in terms of bundle, which was activated on August 13 ,2020 to help us carry out our exams sucessfully.
